RAND Project Overview

Message for Invited Participants

Over the last months we have been assembling a cohort of high-potential pastors to participate in the RAND Project on our District. We are full of anticipation to see how God uses this effort to create high levels of mission effectiveness in our churches, and in this cohort.

The invitation, should you choose to accept it, is to covenant together with a small group of pastors to engage in the following…

  • A 20-month project that meets every month. The meetings will be conducted using Zoom or Google Hangout so there is no travel expense or lost time. Every other month, the meeting will last 120 minutes; during these every-other-month gatherings we will watch and discuss a series of 4 short videos on one of the top 10 subjects essential for mission effectiveness. The first meeting will focus on “Pastoral Self-Leadership: Being a Leader Worth Following.” On the alternating months we will hold a 60-minute “check-in” for purposes of encouragement and accountability to ensure we are all staying on schedule with our RAND work.

  • A commitment to access the reference materials from each of the 10 sessions and accomplish the agreed upon assignments.

  • A commitment to receive the approval of your Church Board for your involvement and their provision to supply the needed resources throughout the project (up to $300 in books and other materials).

  • A commitment to develop your own “Local Church RAND Leadership Cohort” (LCRLC) made up of 5-6 leaders from your local church (at least 2 being from your Church Board).  On the alternating months you will lead your LCRLC through the same video curriculum and reference materials so that together, you can apply RAND learning in your local church.

  • A commitment from your RAND lay leaders, that at the conclusion of the cohort they will select their own group of 5-6 other leaders, building a sustainable leader development system using these principles and materials.

  • A commitment that if your church sees renewed missional effectiveness, you will agree to become a RAND Project Facilitator and lead a pastoral cohort in the future.

There are RAND documents that give further details, but this is a brief overview of the Project.  It will involve significant energy and commitment, but we believe it will build your mission effectiveness and lead to the outcome of Vibrant Church Renewal. We are only recruiting a select group of pastors and we hope you will prayerfully consider this invitation. We have great days ahead. Movement is coming!
