ORIENTATION - Partners with District Schools of Ministry

STEP #1: UNDERSTAND “SCHOOL CULTURE” BASICS

  • The goal for orientation Step #1 is for District Schools of Ministry participants to Understand Our College Culture Basics and be able to explain what MULTIPLYNAZ is. It is not just a College of Ministry, a diploma in church planting or a diploma in church revitalizing. It is more than helping a district build solid support systems. It is more than a series of books and five websites. MULTIPLYNAZ is first and foremost a “way of thinking,” focused on changing local church culture and district culture.

  • Our desire is that the MULTIPLYNAZ College of Ministry will be used by God to shape this positive culture change in both Partner Churches and Partner Districts through an effective Partnership with your District School of Ministry. The College is aimed to help every Partner District School of Ministry to achieve movement, helping churches on the district break out of the status quo. (study the Movement page). We ask all District School of Ministry partners to be committed to “training movement leaders with burning hearts.” We anticipate that all Partner District Schools of Ministry will be committed to developing students who desire to learn better how to lead a healthy, multiplying Nazarene church.

  • Be able to explain the 3 Values we practice (study the 3 Values page). We ask all Partner District School of Ministry leaders to be committed to talking about these 4 values and folding these 4 values in their District School of Ministry presentations.

  • Be able to explain Nazarene Movement growth on average over the past 10 years, i.e. 27 new churches and 2,800+ new members…every week…operating now in 163 countries/world areas. We ask all Partner District School of Ministry leaders to understand the current size and scope of the Nazarene Movement, embrace the church’s vision to move toward 5 million members, helping each student see their part in participating in our global community of believers.

  • We ask all Partner District School of Ministry leaders to be familiar with and understand the “Terms We Use” section of MULTIPLYNAZ Resources, aligning with this language so students “speak the same language” (Genesis 11:6) when they graduate. Our goal with Partner Districts and all Partner Schools of Ministry is that we team together to graduate pastors and planters committed to leading “healthy, multiplying Nazarene churches.”

  • Understand our feedback system to support our never-ending commitment to improvement. Partner District Schools of Ministry leaders, Students and Faculty are all given access and encouraged to participate. We ask all District School of Ministry leaders to understand the MULTIPLYNAZ Feedback system and be committed to our never-ending commitment to improve. We also ask District School of Ministry leaders to explain the MULTIPLYNAZ Feedback system’s use when they are addressing their leadership team and encourage district leaders to participate.

STEP #2: USING MULTIPLYNAZ RESOURCES IN COURSES

  • The goal of orientation Step #2 is for Partner District Schools of Ministry to understand and be able to share how MULTIPLYNAZ Resources are designed to be used by School of Ministry Leaders, Faculty, College Students, Partner Districts, Partner Churches, etc. We ask District Partner School of Ministry leaders to be able to explain how their School, in partnership with the MULTIPLYNAZ College of Ministry, is designed to help shape and change both local church culture and district culture.

  • We ask that Partner District School of Ministry leaders understand the book series currently under development and that they participate in future book development as they are able. We also ask they understand how Book One’s 12 Movement Principles are used in College curriculum to help shape a church’s culture.

  • We ask Partner Schools of Ministry to understand and encourage the development of both pastor’s cohorts and local church small groups as a way to fuel movement. Book One has a free downloadable Action Guide available in both English and Spanish for Partner School use. We ask Partner School leaders to understand and teach the importance of shared leadership in all cohorts and small groups. All MULTIPLYNAZ cohort and small group action guides are designed for shared leadership to be practiced by every group member.

  • We ask Partner District Schools of Ministry to understand and be able to explain how MULTIPLYNAZ works with Partner Districts to develop district support systems. These are delivered through the MULTIPLYNAZ Resources website. One example of this is training and support for Mission Area Leaders on Partner Districts.

STEP #3: SHARE THE PARTNERSHIP VISION

  • The goal of orientation Step #3 is to understand, overview and share the vision of the MULTIPLYNAZ College of Ministry with students and other church leaders.

  • This overview includes how to locate the College of Ministry website, embrace the spirit of Luke 24:32 and be able to communicate the MULTIPLYNAZ College vision - “training movement leaders with burning hearts” (Luke 24:32).

  • This orientation step also includes understanding how the thinking of John Wesley has impacted the College and how the College aims to train movement leaders.

STEP #4: EMBRACE LAY PASTOR/MINISTRY TRAINING

  • The goal of orientation Step #4 is to introduce you to the opportunities of Lay Pastor and Ministerial Training through your District School of Ministry as it Partners with the MULTIPLYNAZ College of Ministry.

  • As a School of Ministry leader, we anticipate you will know how to navigate a student through the self-guided, on-line Student Orientation process and be able to point a potential student to the Student Orientation page.

  • As a School of Ministry leader, we anticipate you understand the sign-up process that will happen in dozens of Partner Churches, i.e. 1) there is communication of a leader’s interest in a local church for Lay Pastor or Ministerial Training, 2) they share their interest in training with their Pastor, 3) they register with the College of Ministry and their District School of Ministry and 4) they become familiar with the College of Ministry curriculum.

STEP #5: BECOME A PARTNER SCHOOL OF MINISTRY

  • The goal of orientation Step #5 is for you as a Partner School of Ministry leader to share agenda harmony with MULTIPLYNAZ in helping fuel a movement of training leaders committed to lead non status-quo churches.

  • As a School of Ministry Leader we ask that you study Book One, Chapter 7 and make a commitment to intentionally pray God will use you to help change the culture of local churches that will be led by the men and women your School trains. We ask that you pray God will bless your School’s focus with a growing desire, believing prayer, faith and an intention in your School to build agenda harmony with your students for them becoming the leader of a healthy, multiplying Nazarene church.

  • As a School of Ministry leader, we ask that sometime in your first year of Partnership, your leaders become involved in a short-term School of Ministry cohort with 6-8 other School leaders for relationships, learning more about reproducing leaders, sharing resources and seeking renewal.

educational PARTNERships - SCHOOLS OF MINISTRY

MULTIPLYNAZ College of Ministry is committed to creating Educational Partnerships with Partner District Schools of Ministry “to train movement leaders with burning hearts” (Luke 24:32). As we facilitate partnerships with existing schools, we aim to implement a new educational delivery system that integrates Lay Pastor Training, Church Planter Training and Church Revitalizing Training into the Nazarene Course of Study. We believe facilitating these Educational Partnerships can help every Partner District capture, catalogue and communicate School of Ministry best practices, leading to a never-ending to improve. We believe we are embarking on a path that will improve ministerial training on every Partner District and we are building benchmarks as part of our support system development on Partner Districts to measure progress.

We also believe Partner District peer-to-peer collaboration and support system development will improve the work of Partner District Boards of Ministry. An initial MULTIPLYNAZ study was conducted of existing District Schools of Ministry that deliver ministerial training for ordination. These results were based on an examination of 78 district websites located on the USA/Canada Region. To see a listing of the Ministry Education of each district, organized by field, click here.
